Digital Magazines

Zinio for Libraries, the world’s largest library newsstand, brings the very best in magazine publishing to thousands of libraries worldwide. With this service, libraries can create custom collections from thousands of magazines, in multiple languages and genres, from North American and global publishers.

Zinio features full-color, digital editions for instant desktop reading, mobile streaming, and mobile-app download. Patrons are able to select both new and back issues, adding them to personal reading libraries with no holds, no checkout periods, and no limits to the number of magazines checked out and downloaded. And with personal notifications for their favorite magazines, patrons never miss an issue!

  • Current Issues: New issues are released simultaneously with print editions, and many are available for immediate download before print editions arrive at the library.
  • Backlist Always Available: As collections grow, so does the digital backlist for anytime checkout and reading.
  • Easy Browsing and Checkout: Patrons can browse a library’s collection of titles one at a time, search for favorite magazines by title, or use the convenient category feature to find new magazines.
  • Mobile Apps: Magazines can be read on mobile devices that include iOS (Apple), Android, and Kindle Fire/HD/HDX.
  • Manage Collections: Using personal accounts, patrons have the opportunity to check out magazines and read them instantly on computers (both PC and Mac) or access the content on portable media devices. (Viewing options, including the ability to download or view content while online, may differ based on the device or magazine publisher.)
  • No-Limit Permanent Checkouts: Patrons can check out as many issues as they want and keep them in their account as long as they wish.
  • Article Search: A new optional add-on feature expands access to your collection through keyword searches pinpointing specific articles and features. You can now search for a specific article or keyword, review the results from your new and backlist collection, and then select and check out that magazine—all from within your library collection site. The full article, including graphics, is displayed in a browser tab, and users may check out the entire issue as well. All 2016 articles, plus the most popular backlist publications, are included in the search results. A separate Article Search statistic is recorded in the Reports site to differentiate Article Search views from full-issue checkouts.
