A double dose of Outlander

The TV series Outlander returns to Starz this Saturday, April 9! In the second season, viewers will find Claire and Jamie resettled in Paris in order to continue the fight against the Jacobites, who want to bring back King James VII to the British throne. The second season, based on Diana Gabaldon's second book in the Outlander novel series, Dragonfly in Amber, follows the events of season one, which ended with Claire revealing to Jamie that she is pregnant with his child. With all the excitement of this new season, fans who can’t get enough Outlander will be excited for the new updated version of The Outlandish Companion, Volume I!

In 1999, the original version of Diana Gabaldon’s The Outlandish Companion was published, serving as the first guide to the bestselling Outlander series. It gave readers insight into the novel's background, cultural and historical details, and other fascinating information that Diana Gabaldon researched and developed for the first four major novels: Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, and Drums of Autumn. As time has passed, Diana has compiled additional material to add to the original Outlandish Companion, and some information in the original guide has become a wee bit outdated. So a new, revised, and updated version of The Outlandish Companion, Volume I by Diana Gabaldon is now available!

What about a reader’s guide for the other books? As well as updating volume I, Diana has been working for several years on a new guide to the Outlander novels that were published after 1999. The Outlandish Companion, Volume II, contains exciting new background information, cultural facts, and other great features about the latter four Outlander series novels. The publication date for volume II was October 27, 2015.
