DescriptionThe best-selling author of Voodoo Dreams (F0036) focuses
on two women who loved the great abolitionist Frederick
Douglass. Anna, a free woman of color, was his rescuer, his loving
wife and mother to his children. Ottilie Assing, a white
German woman, became his intellectual soul mate and mistress.
At times, they all lived under the same roof.

Douglass Women
(Review of Douglass’ Women)
The book is very believeable and very unpredictable. The characters were very rich and very well described. It would have been nice to understand a little more about Frederick and what all his life as a slave entailed. I also wish the author would have described why Frederick treated Othelia the way he did. The way the author told the story it has all the basics of a beautiful story: history, love, violence, hate, beauty, and an added bonus the love triangle and race relations of that time period. This a great book that really explains how the women of a love triangle often feel. - Reviewer from Monroe La.
