Patrick Tull (1941-2006)
Recorded Books regretfully announces the death in September 2006 of beloved narrator Patrick Tull. Patrick
read his first audiobook for us in 1986 and over the next 20 years he completed more than 100 titles.
Patrick is perhaps best known for his vocal work on Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin novels, having narrated all 21
volumes. Patrick's skillful command of the seafaring series' dialects and the general tenor of the novels won admiration
from fans around the world. Over the years we have received countless letters and e-mails praising his performances. We
know that many of you, like us, will miss Patrick terribly.
Patrick is also celebrated for his acclaimed narrations of the works of George Orwell, the complete Sherlock Holmes
canon, the Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters, and John Mortimer's Rumpole books.
Born in England in 1941, Patrick worked extensively in theatre, television, and film before moving to New York in 1973.
He subsequently worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in regional theaters across the United States.
Patrick is survived by his wife Sue and two daughters, Kate and Siobhan. Notes of condolence may be sent to Sue at
sdennis@interchurch-center.org.
