Barbara Rosenblat

Barbara Rosenblat is one of the most beloved and sought-after narrators of audiobooks in the country. Her extraordinary range of accents and abilities has earned her eight coveted Audie Awards from the Audio Publishers Association. The Audies are the industry’s Oscar and Barbara has won more of them than any other narrator.

The industry’s watchdog publication, AudioFile magazine, has named her one of their Golden Voices and a “Voice of the 20th Century.” Barbara has earned over 40 Earphones Awards from AudioFile for her superior recordings.

As an actress, Barbara has worked both in the U.S. and in the UK. She has appeared in London’s West End theatre, worked for the BBC, and performed twice at the Edinburgh Festival. On Broadway, Barbara created the role of “Mrs. Medlock” in the Tony Award–winning musical The Secret Garden. She also served as production dialect coach for the Broadway run and its subsequent national tour. Barbara played “Madame Armfeldt” in a production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical A Little Night Music. In March 2007, Barbara opened on Broadway in a new production of Eric Bogosian’s 1980s dark comedy Talk Radio, starring Liev Schreiber.

As a busy New York actress, Barbara has appeared on TV in Guiding Light, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Veep, and Girls. She has a recurring role as cancer-stricken inmate “Miss Rosa” on the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black.

She has voiced many radio and TV commercials and documentaries. Barbara has always maintained that nothing works your “acting chops” more thoroughly than a good audiobook, and her fans and critics seem to agree. Barbara has amassed over 400 titles in a distinguished body of work, and she is always delighted when a new manuscript arrives with the promise of yet another wonderful audio journey.
