Cherise Boothe

Cherise Boothe is a 2012 Obie Award winner for her performance in Kirsten Greenidge’s play Milk Like Sugar. Ms. Boothe is best known for originating the role of Josephine in Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play Ruined.

Additional theater work includes the West Coast premiere of Robert O’Hara’s Barbecue, Danai Gurira’s Familiar, Sarah Treem’s When We Were Young and Unafraid, the Public Theater Lab production of Suzan-Lori Parks’ Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3), Ohio State Murders, King Hedley II, and Huck & Holden (original cast).

In film, Ms. Boothe can be seen in Ricki and the Flash (opposite Meryl Streep), 42 (with Chadwick Boseman and Nicole Beharie), Betty and Coretta (with Angela Bassett and Mary J. Blige), Inside Man (directed by Spike Lee), Then She Found Me (directed by Helen Hunt), and The Wool Cap (with Keke Palmer and William H. Macy). 

Ms. Boothe has guest-starred on the hit TV series NCIS, Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes, The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU and Gossip Girl.

Ms. Boothe’s voice can be heard in the video games Evolve and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the animated film Everyone’s Hero and the FX animated series Unsupervised.
