"Patricia Gallimore hits all the right notes in this marvelously entertaining audiobook about the positions of dogs and the Royal Family in British society. The setting is a future police state in Great Britain in which dogs can talk and the Royals are forced to live a middle-class life under constant surveillance. As the dogs prepare a full-scale uprising to assert their rights, the Royals struggle with the possibility of returning to power. The story is entertaining to begin with, and Gallimore's voices for each character bring it to another level. She alternates with ease between refined Queen's English and the lower-class accents of the neighbors' dogs. My personal favorite is Gallimore's uptight Prince Charles; his scrupulous attempts to write a note requesting an extra liter of milk from the milkman are laugh-out-loud funny. K.F.
