When the Spanish government declared war against the United States in 1898, Theodore Roosevelt resigned his post as Assistant Secretary of the Navy to take his place as lieutenant colonel of the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry. His involvement with this unit, nicknamed The Rough Riders, established "Teddy" as a household name. The Rough Riders is the future president's account of his experiences and of the Spanish-American War.

Professional reviews

"Narrator John Randolph Jones affects the sound of the most audacious American president with perfect pauses and emphasis on phrases that instill in the listener a sense of authority and authenticity. You may hear the crack of saddles and feel the clomp of heavy boots in JonesÕs voice. Roosevelt captured the imagination of the nation, and Jones captures the rhythm of the ÒbullyÓ president, making this listening experience akin to sitting across the table from T.R. while sharing this story of bravery and courage.
