Some journeys don't come with a map. It's senior year, and Whitney Richards is tired of the constant pressures to be perfect. When she gets a D in calculus, her mother immediately worries Whitney won't get into the "right" college - Mom's alma mater - and hires Taylor as tutor. Taylor is a quiet, mysterious boy unlike anyone Whitney has ever met, but his upbringing has her mother and friends discouraging any type of relationship. Tired of having to play a part for everyone else, Whitney quits the activities that once defined her social identity and begins spending more time with Taylor. Is Whitney making a huge mistake, as everyone seems to think? Even Taylor begins to question some of her choices, but for the first time, Whitney is in the driver's seat of her life. Will she be able to find her identity - and God's plan for her life - before she throws everything away?

"Narrator Aimee Lilly portrays endearing, friendly Whitney Richards, who has it all. The A-student is a cheerleader, her boyfriend is the football captain, and she drives a really cool Jeep. Things change, though, when she gets a "D" on a calculus test and Brent breaks up with her on Valentine's Day. Lilly captures Whitney's conflicting emotions and presents splendid verbal sound effects such as eating popcorn and yawning. When Whitney falls for her math tutor, unpretentious Taylor Martinez, she realizes how shallow her life has been. Listeners will hear Whitney's growth as she becomes more confident in her decisions. Lilly's other memorable creations are Whitney's domineering, prejudiced mother and Vanessa Martinez, Taylor's adorable kid sister. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine"
