Haunted by past tragedy and content with his own company, Will Elliott is an ideal lighthouse keeper. Yet as automated beacons replace men, Will's life on the rugged Cornish coast changes again. Although sad at the prospect, Will can now fulfil his dream-to sail solo around the British coast. Or he could if life were that simple. As it is, Will meets Amy, who escaped her past to be an artist. Her plight arouses Will's sympathy, despite his desire to set sail. Then he stumbles upon a ruthless smuggling operation, involving someone Will is sure he knows, but who has gone to great difficulty to mask his identity .
