L. Frank Baum's "Queen Zixi of Ix", (1905) takes place in the lands of Noland and Ix, two regions adjacent to Oz. The fantasy novel tells the story of a magic cloak made by the fairies of the forest of Burzee that grants the wearer one wish. 683-year-old Queen Zixi who appears to be 16 to all, covets the cloak in order to reverse a curse which makes mirrors reflect her true age. Thought by its author to be his finest work, it was adapted into a silent film "The Magic Cloak of Oz" in 1914.
